The swim takes place on Saturday, June 28 at 11:30am. Unlike our triathlon course, which parallels the Ohio bank of the Ohio River, the Great Ohio River Swim will start on the Ohio side of the river at Sawyer Point and swim across to Kentucky and return to the finish at Public Landing. The distance is just over .5 mile or about 1000 meters. This is a great way to practice your open water skills the day before the triathlon.

While there may be something to do for the whole family, athletes have come to race and the Cincinnati One World Triathlon offers one of the most challenging and beautiful courses in all of triathlon. The Cincinnati One World Triathlon starts with a downstream swim from the Montgomery Inn Boathouse to the exit point at Public Landing adjacent to the transition area at Yeatman's Cove. The One World bike course, completely closed to traffic, is through downtown and on the hills of Columbia Parkway adjacent to the Ohio River. One World's run is in Freedom Park and in the shadows of Cincinnati's downtown and sports stadiums.
Athletes and their families are not going to want to miss the gala finish line celebration with entertainment, food, music and beer. The celebration will start with our first finisher and go until our awards ceremony at noon.
MORE RACE INFORMATION
The triathlon is limited to 1200 athletes. Enter early to make sure you get a spot! The triathlon swim start is approximately 1000 meters upriver from the transition area. Participants will need to walk from the transition to the swim start. Please leave enough time to make your wave start.
Your cancelled check or confirmation email from active.com will function as your confirmation you have entered. All participants will receive an email approximately 10 days before the race with last minute information.
There is no packet pick up on race day. If you absolutely, positively cannot make it on the Wednesday, Friday or Saturday before the race, please email racedirector@tucsonracing.com and special arrangements will be made for you to pick up your race number.
USAT Triathlon rules will apply. We will be requesting USAT draft marshals. The wetsuit rule (wetsuits allowed only if the water temperature is 78.0 and below) will be strictly adhered to. No headphones of music devices while participating.
CHIP TIMING: This race will be timed by the state of the art IPICO timing system. Chips will be issued to each athlete. Chips must be worn at all times while participating. The chip will be the "baton" for relay participants. The chip must be surrendered at the end of the race. A $15 charge will be assessed for a lost chip or a chip that is not turned in.
No spectators, family or friends in the transition. The transition area closes at 7:20am and all athletes will be cleared of the transition at that time.
Cincinnati is very accessible by air and automobile. See the Welcome to Cincinnati page for things to do while in the Cincinnati area. The Cincinnati airport (CVG) is only 20 minutes from downtown. For cheaper fares check out flying into Columbus (CMH), Indianapolis (IND) or Dayton (DAY), each less than a 2 hour drive from Cincinnati.
Host hotels will be announced in April.
USAT AGE GROUP RULE: USA Triathlon, the governing body of the sport of triathlon, instituted a new age group rule in 2005. Your race age is your age on December 31, 2008. Therefore, if you age up into a new age group during the calendar year of 2008, you race in that new age group for the 2008 season. For example, Sally is 34 years old on the day of the Cincinnati One World Triathlon on June 29, 2008. Her birthday is on July 15, 2008 and on her birthday she will turn 35. Therefore, Sally races in the 35-39 age group for all of 2008, including in Cincnnati. If you have a birthday in 2008 that puts you in another age group, you will race with that age group in the race and leave in that age group's wave. Using our example above, even though Sally is 34 at the Cincinnati One World Triathlon, she will race in the 35-39 age group, start with the 35-39 wave and get awards based on her finish in the 35-39 age group. It is the athlete's responsibility to enter their correct age and leave in the correct wave. Athlete's racing in the wrong wave will be disqualified.

SCHEDULE
NOTICE: The One World Triathlon is ON as scheduled, Sunday June 29th at 7:30 am. Due to recent storms, changes in the events for Saturday June 28th, and Sunday June 29th are required. As of 7 am Saturday, June 28th, water quality testing has indicated bacteria levels above permissible contact standards for recreational swimming. Unfortunately, we have made the decision to cancel the Ohio River Swim (part of Paddlefest), originally scheduled for 11:30 am. Additionally, the One World Triathlon on Sunday, July 29th will be re-routed as a run-bike-run event, substituting a running leg of the race for the originally scheduled swim (new course: one mile run for sprint distance participants, two mile run for olympic distance participants). We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation in making this alternate race safe and fun for all.
