SWIM:  This is your chance to swim in the mighty Ohio River.  One of only several triathlons (including Ironman Louisville) to swim in the Ohio River (with the Great Ohio River Swim being the only standalone swim competition in the river), the Cincinnati Triathlon offers a unique opportunity to swim in one of America's most iconic waterways.  The Olympic swim starts at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse (home of world famous Montgomery Inn ribs.  As good as they are, you probably will not want feast on them before the triathlon) approximately 1000 meters upstream from the finish line.  The swim is entirely downstream, with the current, so expect some fast swim times.  The Sprint swim starts at the upstream end of the Serpentine Wall.  The entire sprint swim is within meters of the wall so your family and friends can walk along the swim with you.  For information on water quality click here.

BIKE:  The Cincinnati Triathlon bike course is unique in that we close our entire bike course to traffic, including all 6 lanes of Columbia Parkway.  The rolling hills of Columbia Parkway offer suburb view of the Ohio River, Kentucky and the downtown skyline.  The bike course finishes by going past the Cincinnati Reds stadium, the Cincinnati Bengals Stadium before turning around at the historic Longworth building.  Triathletes have called this the most scenic bike course in triathlon.  The Olympic distance is two laps, the sprint distance 1 lap.

RUN:  After a long swim and bike, triathletes are treated to a shady run along the banks of the Ohio River in Friendship Park.  The run is flat and fast with aid stations every 1.5 miles.  The run starts with a dash over the Ohio River across the Purple People Bridge, stepping into Kentucky before turning around to the run along the shaded banks of the Ohio River in Friendship Park.  The Oly distance does two laps, the sprint distance does one lap.
